Christmas Card booklet
c. 1913A cream booklet of six pages, tied together with purple ribbon. On the front cover is an embossed floral pattern and inside the pattern is embossed in gold colouring the Australian World War One hat insignia.
The Church depicted on the From the Front page is the Leaning Virgin from the Basilica of Our Lady of Brebieres in Albert France. The soldier lore was the war would end when the Virgin fell, this is page three of the booklet.
The ruin on Hands Across the Sea is the Cloth Hall in Ypres Belgium, this is page four of the booklet. This information was provided by the Army Museum of WA.

On the first page in brown lettering is written " Christmas ..1917.. 1stAustralian.Pioneer.Battalion.. AIF"
On the second page in brown lettering is written "'Fond thoughts can traverse distance wide, And you for aye in mine abide'"
On the third page in brown lettering is written "Greetings from the front From C.Q.M S. Hawkes to Nell France 1917"
On the fourth page is a picture of a church with buildings around it demolished.
On the fifth page in brown lettering is written "Hands across the Sea"
On the sixth page is a picture of a building half demolished.
