Three Springs, Western Australia, Australia - 003
At this fence line and roadway Harry Whittington indicates half of the fence post showing out above the deep silt eroded from the hillslope. This has resulted from non conservation practices used by farmers over the last half century. Any furrows left on sloping ground invite erosion of soil and nutrients. Paddocks erode into gullies, then creeks erode into rivers - causing silting and flooding problems all the way to the coast.
