Men and women are grouped on the forecourt area., above the steps and a couple are standing in the street to the right of the steps.
To the left of which is a 'No parking' sign, and a motorcycle, further down.
A number of cars are parked to the right of the building.

Historical information

Based on similar photos in the museum collection this is assumed to be the opening of the new Council Chambers in the former courthouse at Fiennes Street, Toodyay on 19 March 1959.

Contextual Information

The Hon. Lindsay Thorn, M.L.A., Member for Toodyay, opened the restored Court House in Fiennes Street, to be used as the Road Board Chambers. The Toodyay Tennis Club over the road provided afternoon tea for the occasion.
The Road Board had met at at the former Toodyay Mechanics building (now the Toodyay Library) between 1927 and 1958, before relocating to the restored courthouse.
