The pool is the Katanning swimming pool which was opened in 1938 and was the third inland swimming pool that was built. The supply of water was a big issue for country towns.

On the back of the photograph handwritten on a white label is "DICK OLD ON LEFT 3RD FROM LEFT DAWSON LONGMIRE"
On the back of the photograph is stamped in grey ink several times the word "VELOX".
