Details
On the back of the photograph handwritten in blue ink is "AT WAKE'S YARD UP THE STREET FROM GARAGE EARLY RETREADING EQUIPMENT (1930S). FOUND IN SHED OUT THE BACK OF 'RICKETS' BUTCHERS SHOP (NOW KATANNING SUPER MARKET CLIVE ST)" and underneath is "THIRD CIRCLE MOULD THAT TOOK ALLOY MOULD SEGMENTS AND STEAM HEATED BY BOILER. WAKE'S NEVER USED THIS BUT PROBABLY BROUGHT OFF AN EARLY RETREADER IN KATANNING THAT WAS SET UP BEHIND OLD BUTCHER SHOP. TYRE HAD TO BE RETREADED IN 3 CURVING CYCLES. COOLIN FINS ON END OF MOULD, SAND BAGS IN TYRE AND SCREW DOWN FOR PRESSURE".
