The 1980-1981 season saw a major reshuffle of the under 16 competition in Bunbury. The 'A' and 'B' grades were abolished for qualifying games. At the end of the season they were brought back for the finals. That is, the top four teams played off for the 'A' grade title, whilst the bottom four teams played off for the 'B' grade title.
The unluckiest team in the competition must have been NO.1 team. The team finished 5th on the table, which meant that they just missed out on the 'A' grade finals but they had too many points for the 'B' grade finals.
The number 1 side had their stars throughout the season, with the best batting averages being achieved by Craig Bailey, while Craig Jennings took the bowling honours. Other players to contribute well were David Cunniffe, Murray Bassett and N. Cooke.
Bunbury High School also had two representatives at the Association Country Week held in January. They, were Peter Anderson and Craig Jennings, both were chosen in the No. 1 team.
