DRAWING KNIFE: CARPENTER'S - MEDIUM BLADED 'WARD & PAYNE'
Drawing knife with medium narrow blade, chisel shaped in section and bevel ground on its front edge. Tapering fangs at both ends of blade are bent at right angles to cutting edge and are fitted with bulbous turned wooden handles. These bear 5 parallel incised lines around the body and are riveted at end/butt. Where handles join blade brass bands surround handle body. Blade stamped with Manufacturer's marks plus trade marks at either end of cutting blade - the letters "W" and "P" on either side of an anvil. The corners of the cutting section of blade are curved. Slight curve to wide back of blade. Used by carpenters and other allied trades for the removal of surplus wood and for rounding and chamfering.
