Overview

A circular lamp encased in metal with an iron handle. The front glass is hinged at the side so that it can be opened and the filament changed. The lamp is mounted on a tripod

Historical information

It is an oil lamp, it was used in the Katanning Railway Shunting yards. At the back of the lamp is a circular piece of red glass. The lamp changes colour depending on the direction of the shunting, this is achieved by opening the glass front and putting the piece of red coloured glass in front of the lamp and then closing the glass front.
