World War 2, Field Telephone Set H Mk III
The Telephone Set "H" Mk.III . was designed to provide secure wire communications on the front lines, This sturdy field telephone has an olive drab painted steel outer box measuring25.4 X 11.5 X 14.0 cm)with a hand cranked magneto generator to "ring up" the other party, instructions on the inner lid and connectors for the wire with a heavy sound powered handset made 114.3 cm)khaki cloth covered wire.
This model field telephone would have been used by Commonwealth forces in both the Middle East and the Pacific during World War Two through to the Korean War.

This field phone is in the Communications Gallery commissioned by the Australian Army Museum of Western Australia as part of the Centenary commemorations of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals. Communication devices used by the Australian Army also are presented in their operational context throughout the Museum.
