Katanning Road Board Referendum for Swimming Pool
1937A buff coloured piece of paper with black printing. The piece of paper is a voting slip for the Swimming Baths Referendum.
This was one of three referendums that were conducted by the Katanning Road Board to gain the community support to build a swimming pool. Each referendum returned a NO vote. The Road Board still built the pool and it opened in 1939, the first inland swimming pool in WA. (A Evans.) This particular voting slip has 'NO' recorded against all three questions. There are 167 voting slips.

The voting slip had one question: "1. 'ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF THE KATANNING ROAD BOARD RAISING A LOAN TO ESTABLISH SWIMMING BATHS IN THE KATANNING PARK?'", people were then instructed to "'WRITE THE WORD 'YES' OR 'NO' ON THE DOTTED LINE'"
Then there were two options in regard to the filtration system: "'WHICH DO YOU PREFER? A. - A modern Swimming Bath with a filtration and purification plant costing approximately 3,000 pound' WRITE 'YES' OR 'NO'" and "'B. - A Swimming Bath without purification plant costing approximately 1,200 pounds"' WRITE 'YES' OR 'NO'".
