On 7th August 1985, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother took a special 2 hour royal flight on a British Airways Concorde to celebrate her 85th birthday.
The flight was a gift from British Airways, during which she flew at nearly twice the speed of sound and sat in the cockpit for the landing. She called the development of the Concorde a "great achievement".
