Probably this actually dates from 1946: Victory Day was celebrated in Toodyay on June 10th of that year with a procession from the Newcastle Hotel to the Showgrounds. The Toodyay Volunteer Aid Detachment wont the prize for the best float. (Toodyay Herald, 14 June 1946, p.1)
