Female Relative Badge World War 1
The badge read “Issued by the Department of Defence - To the Women of Australia” in an oval surmounted by a Tudor crown surrounding the initials AIF with a scroll below “For Duty Done”. A bar was suspended below the badge to indicate additional relatives involved in war service. A circular badge of similar design with a fouled anchor was awarded for naval service.
Female Relative badges were issued to the nearest female relative of those engaged in active service overseas during World War 1 including soldiers, airmen, nurses and masseuses who left Australia for active service abroad
