Summary: Hilda James was interviewed for the Subiaco Historical Society on 24 May 1985 by Donna Moore at her home at 6 Onslow Road, Shenton Park. Hilda James was born on 4 August 1902 in Toodyay, and moved to Subiaco in 1913. Miss James has lived at the same address since 1920. She never married and lived in the family home. In this interview she describes her schooling, social life, daily chores such as washing and the Depression. She also recalls World War One and World War Two, Guy Fawkes Day and her experiences with the Soroptomist Club and at Rosalie Park.
