Overview

Has a black enameled top section with a heavy cast iron heating bottom part. has a long pipe type connection cord for the gas plug in. this is dark red colour, on the end is the gas plug in connection, between the top black section and the bottom cast iron there's holes all around

Historical information

The rhythm 375U gas iron was popular mid-20th century in British households, they represented a major advancement in home laundry technology between the era of stove top flat irons and widespread electric irons
Manufactured by Radiation Ltd - a company also know for "New World " cookers, these iron were staple in homes during the 1930's to 50's
the iron were hollowed out featuring internal gas jets that heated the base plate directly, the control tap allowed the user to regulate the flow of gas from a hose connected directly to a domestic gas point .

This Gas iron was owned by Mrs. Joan Slee of Ongerup and was used in the "Oakdale" farm house which is just east of the Ongerup WA town site, from 1940's - 50's
