Group of D Company 5 Battalion, including Private A Wheadon

Historical information

2473 Private Arthur Wheadon enlisted in 8 Battalion 7th Reinforcement on 28 April 1915 and embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A64 Demosthenes on 16 July 1915.During the war he was wounded, promoted to Corporal and married overseas. His application to be discharged in England was refused and he eventually returned to Australia in 1920.
