'ODE TO JOLIMONT
VERSE 1:
Many have passed thro' that JOLIMONT gate,
Fought for our country, worked for our State.
Whatever their future, days of joy or tears
Their schooldays at JOLIMONT are worthy of three cheers.
CHORUS:
Seventy five years ago non of us were here,
Now in 1980 it's our anniversary year.
''GO FORWARD'' is our motto, to a future bright and clear
We'll all meet ag-a-in in our centenary year.
VERSE 2:
Scorched by the sun, washed by the rains,
Many years have passed but the old school remains,
Wherever we venture, far away or near,
Our schooldays at JOLIMONT are worthy of three cheers.
CHORUS:
Seventy five years ago non of us were here,
Now in 1980 it's our anniversary year.
''GO FORWARD'' is our motto, to a future bright and clear
We'll all meet ag-a-in in our centenary year.
VERSE 3:
Childhood voices echo in and out of the rooms today,
Tomorrow's men and women being helped along the way.
Whatever they achieve, a wealthy life or poor,
Their schooldays at JOLIMONT are worth three cheers or more.
CHORUS:
Seventy five years ago non of us were here,
Now in 1980 it's our anniversary year.
''GO FORWARD'' is our motto, to a future bright and clear
We'll all meet ag-a-in in our centenary year.
The Ode to Jolimont was written by the Storey Family to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Jolimont Primary School and is sung to the tune of ''Click go the Shears.'' '
