Rarely photographed.West Australian, Friday 4 October 1935, page 14: ALH Ainsworth Babakin-Bilbarin Rifle Club won the Duke of York competition (part of the King’s Prize Meeting) with prizes gold medal worth 5 pounds 5 shillings ($606 at 2023 values) and 8 pounds cash ($924). This was a lot of money at the time. Medals made from gold were phased out in later years and are rare.
Goldfields Observer, Sunday 6 October 1935, page 1: V. H. Gwynne (Bruce Rock RC) came second in championship (Grand Aggregate of Duke of York and King’s competitions) behind Ainsworth but was ahead of him in the King’s. Gwynne was third behind L Larson (Boulder RC) in Kings with Ainsworth 7th. Hutchison was was from Doodlakine RC.
All three were from country clubs demonstrating the strength of small country clubs at the time
