Sir John Winthrop Hackett KCMG (4 February 1848 – 19 February 1916) was a proprietor and editor of several newspapers in Western Australia, a politician and benefactor of the University of WA. He was well known for supporting the community with trophies and prizes. The Dr Hackett shield was competed for regularly until the early 2000's.
