About organisation
The Mandurah Museum seeks to serve its community by being a leading local museum of social and urban history in the Western Australian Regional environment. The Museum seeks to collect, document and conserve objects that record the history, culture and natural environment of the area and adjacent coastline. The museum interprets the collection by promoting education, enjoyment and community participation. No visit to Mandurah would be complete without taking in its displays that run from the Aboriginal history of the area right through to the present day. Rare and unique items from the first settlers can be seen along with Interactive exhibits that make the past come alive. The Museum buildings themselves began life in 1900 as a schoolroom, later becoming the town’s police station. The old cells can still be seen today.
