Sue Ravine Collection
Sue Ravine (1958-2011) was active in the lesbian scene in Perth during the 1990s, serving on the Lesbian and Gay Pride WA board in 1993 and made a significant contribution by organising Pride WA Parties from 1993-1997, as well as working as the main DJ. She donated her collection of music compilations, posters, T-shirts and ephemera in 1995. Her collection also includes a nearly complete set of the WA magazine for lesbian and feminist women Grapevine (1980-2005). Her collection is significant not only for the Aesthetic value of the items but the Social Significance, recording the lifestyle and issues affecting lesbians in Perth in the decade 1990-2000. Ravine also donated a large 3-metre banner she made for the Cockburn Sound Women’s Peace Camp (1984). It is rare to have a banner from this period and event with such a provenance.
