The early fifties saw a decline of rural farming families and CWA branches, though an increase in membership within Perth and regional centers. This was in-part caused by farming mechanisation as well as an increase in car ownership and sealed roads, allowing more frequent and long-distance travel.

Isolated women living on remote stations were able to connect with other women by the opening of the first Air Branches in Gascoyne and Kimberley in 1956.

CWA purchased Air Strip Cottages at Derby and Onslow in 1956, providing shelter and resting facilities to aid families waiting for air travel.

CWA of WA advocated for rural education by continuing to open more student boarding hostels. The Albany Girls Hostel (1950), Bunbury Girls Hostel (1952) and Narrogin Hostel (1962). Earlier hostels had been opened at Northam (1939), Albany Boys (1945) and Bunbury Boys Craig House (1945).
