Atlantis Marine Park was a popular tourist attraction in Two Rocks during the 1980's and is remembered by people of all ages. Opening at Two Rocks in 1981, the Atlantis Marine Park was a popular tourist attraction. Millions of people visited the park where they enjoyed attractions such as performing seals and dolphins, water slides and playgrounds, penguins and an oceanarium.
The park was closed in August 1990, following new regulations regarding the accommodation of marine animals. Unsuccessful efforts were made to relocate the dolphins to other facilities in 1991, but after consultation with the State Government the decision was made to rehabilitate the mammals back to the wild.
Mila, Rajah and Echo were three dolphins who were not able to adjust to living in the wild and were brought back to Hillarys Marina in May 1992. They continued to participate in shows and swam in their pen, until the deaths of all three mammals under mysterious circumstances occurred in December 1999.
Wanneroo Regional Museum's Community History Centre held a community event entitled 'Atlantis Arises Memory Sharing Day' in April 2013 and this collection highlights material donated by the community.
