The machine may have been aquired by J A Holmsen in 1928 when he purchased a shoe store & repaire business from a mr M.D,Nicklas which was then operating in Barrack st on the eastern side of Bates st .After a few years the business shifted to Maple House in Bates st where at least 2 repairers worked full time in post years .There was also another boot repairer in town The business moved again to Barrack st & the repair section retained & operated by Joseph Steffanofor many years
