Overview

Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by RH (Rod) Sawyer.

Comments: 20 inch rainfall. Topsoil depth 5 inches to 3 feet 0 inches. No salt or waterlogged areas inside boundary. Visible salt and some salt effected land well inside north boundary. Very generally most drainage is from south to the north. Fixed drainage to rivers and lake systems. (A) will empty right into new dam. (B) runs into bottom of dam so as to keep it as far away (A) as possible. This will not effect the level of dam when full, but bank (B) may not empty out when dam is full. Point (C) was picked so as to protect boundary from subsurface throughflow and under extreme pressure form major floods will split and go in two directions. The very flat wide flat depression flowed up to 3-4 [chains] wide and up to 2 feet deep in January floods. No flyovers have been shown as farmer wants to pick spots at a later date. He does realise that they have to be put in on well drained areas (ridges etc.) Tom would you please let me know if there is anything wrong as the dozer is not far away.
