1988Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by RT (Rob) Stone.
Neridup Location 485.
Comments: See enclosed plan of of all work done. This phase is flood protection to keep excess water away from crab holes in the valley of 3 paddocks featured in this plan. Where the banks cross or enter paddocks there is a 2 centimetre in 30 metre fall. The roadways average between 5 to 10 centimetres in 30 metres. My future plan, when remaining bush is cleared, would be to direct all excess water to the southern corner to a main waterway. We are working in 0 to 5 inches of sandy loam and clay.
Review Comments: Your plan of a flood protection for the area is good. Crab holes in valley floors are quite often fed by seepage channels or throughflows in a valley floor, I would suggest that you check the depth of the throughflow in the valley floor and ascertain whether the soil is of sealable material or whether it will need assistance by a plastic liner — if it does it should be installed before the dozer completes the earthworks.
