Overview

Surveyors Report on WISALTS Conservation System created by PF (Peter) Woodward.

Comments: Bank A is designed to take water from the creek out to the edge of the waterlogged area, around the base of the hill and to the box culvert road crossing. This should also stop large amounts of water running down the side of the road. The bank has been designed to empty out at the road crossing and still go back into the paddock under flood conditions. The creek needs to be deepened at points marked to allow the banks to empty out completely.

Review Comments: Peter I hope this work has not been constructed. For the first time you have missed some very important points on the plan. You have not indicated if any water is coming into the degraded area from the right hand side of the plan. North is not indicated. The plan to deepen the creek in several places is not particularly a good approach, unless unavoidable. From the plan it would appear that the water is coming in from the top of the plan. If this reading is correct then the most efficient plan would be to bring the water from the right hand side of the plan, around the highest peak of the waterlogged area and continue down the left hand side of the waterlogged area. Every so often it world be necessary to drop the line at least 1 metre in 30 metres. A number of interceptor banks from the right hand side of the plan and cutting across the creek where the natural barriers exist and drop them into the master bank at one of the points where a metre drop has been planned. The dotted line is something of what I would propose for a situation like this.
