MINISTERIAL SPECIAL 1896
1896b/w A special train was commissioned to travel from Perth to Kalgoorlien to celebrate the first train to Kalgoorlie on 8th Sept 18 96 .The engine was 'P' class 4-4-0 No. 63 & a 'G ' class engine It consisted of the vice regal ministerial & inspection cars the car of the Manager of the Great Southern Railways, 8 sleeping cars 2 composite carriages 2 luggage vans & a brake van .Two locomotives were also requisisioned Three hundred invited guests witnessed the ceremony Some of the guests were----The Governor His Excellency Sir Gerard & Lady Smith ,with their daughter Miss Smith. The Mayor Mr.I. J.Cohn .
