Drum Major - Ceremonial Sash or Baldric
In British and Australian tradition, a drum major usually wears the same uniform as the rest of the band with the additional of a diagonal sash. [An exception is the State Dress worn for royal ceremonial by Drum majors of the Brigade of Guards].
Drum Major's Sashes are made of the finest woollen felt and embroidered with bullion wire and silk threads. The Drum Major’s sash is part of the honours of the Regiment. Its design may incorporate royal honours, regimental insignia or battle honours.
