Contextual information

One of the earliest .303 rifles to be used in target shooting in WA. The London Small Arms Company Limited was a private arms maker based in the Bow area of London’s East End. The firm was one of several contractors (alongside BSA and the government’s Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield) supplying standard-pattern British service rifles.
The firm ceased trading in the inter‑war period (closing in 1935), so all “LSA Co Ltd” rifles date from before that year; a marking such as “LSA Co Ltd 1904” would therefore indicate an early SMLE or a late “Long Lee” era service rifle made by London Small Arms
