Avon River, East Quairading, Western Australia, Australia - 003

1990
Overview

Looking at the Avon River from an eastern approach. Position - approximately 12 kilometres east of Quairading : the static water is again trapped along the edge of the reconstructed area shown by the mottled (spotted or blotched colouring). The mottled area (sunken and misshapen area of salt and polluted water in the winter is approximately 1.5 kilometres wide on either side of the river). The soil is "dead". The static water is in the same position on the western side of the river too. In that area there has to be a lot more effort put into that type of land degradation other than just planting trees. This is not condemning the planting of trees, it is condemning the philosophy.
