Wooden Mixing Trove. Circa approx 1900 Used in Merredin early 1900's until elctric mixer was installed in 1930's. Three bags of flour (150lbs bags) other ingredients and water were put into trove and mixed by hand into dough; left overnight to prove; made into Devon , upright and Pipe loaves. Devon loaves baked in tins turned upside down to level all surfaces. Upright loaves baked uncovered to give high dome shape. Pipe loaves baked in ringed tins with lids. 'Thorobred' electric, one bag mixer. Circa approx 1930. One bag flour, 150lbs, made 104 loaves. Mixer bought by Gillespie's from Bateman and Lynes when taking over the bakery from them in 1966. Used by Ian Gillespie until about 1980 when the motor was burned out by an apprentice. Previous owners of the bakery were Bodycoat 1930's, Les Bray, John Newport, Bateman & Lynes.
