WISALTS Trial Site at Property of JW (Jim) Erskine, Denbarker, Western Australia, Australia - 010

Overview

Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by JD (Jim) McGregor.

Comments: The proposed work in the "Bouverie" block is in a fairly new paddock adjacent to the catchment we looked at a a potential trial site. The lowest line C would add on to the existing grade bank into the dam. I have surveyed that one on the barriers so the grade varies accordingly. Line A continues the top line of the early system next door and is mainly surveyed on the barriers so not on the true contour. Line B is level apart from the north end which rises slightly. The main throughflows in the upper depression have been intercepted by the line though it was possible to connect up those south of them towards the early bank. Topsoil depth varies from about 20 centimetres near the south fence to 1 metre or more mid depression. Gradient is mush steeper than the catchment already banked.
