Property of Goomalling Earth Moving, Kalannie, Western Australia, Australia
1982Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by B (Ben) Davey.
Comments: Block is 4000 acres of wodjil, morrel gimlet and tamma. The latter two having a base layer 30 to 70 centimetres. The wodjil has no base layer but on the oldest of it a plow sole has formed just under the surface about 8 inches thick, a siltation pan appears to be forming at approximately 60 centimetres. The morrel hasn't formed much of a hardpan as yet, though the white rocky layer starts at 40 to 70 centimetres and is over 10 feet deep (how much over isn't known). Block was released in 1964. No areas are salt affected as yet. Throughflow is minimal with surface wash and erosion being the main problems. Rain fall is very low with the average since present owners took over being approximately 8 inches to 9 inches. This system is designed to make use of all of this. Access is to be provided mainly by small unsealed flyovers just to control overload.
