Grave of Sergeant W Telford Killed in Action 28 June 1915

Historical information

1648 William Alfred Telford of East Fremantle enlisted in 11 Battalion on 23 November 1914 and embarked from Fremantle on HMAT A50 Itonus on 22 February 1915. He was killed in action on 28 June 1915 and is buried in Shell Green Cemetery, Gallipoli. Commemorated (marble tablet) in St John's Anglican Church, Fremantle, Western Australia. Inscription reads: 'To the glory of God. The Choir Vestry was erected A.D. 1922 in grateful memory of the men from this parish who gave their lives for God and King and Country in the Great War 1914-1919. "Their name liveth for evermore."' Son of J. TELFORD; husband of Elizabeth Florence TELFORD, 30 Powlett Street, Melbourne. Native of Perth, Western Australia
