Overview

Black and white photograph. Image shoes the ceremony to mark laying of foundation stone, 1932. Crowd gathered in front of the construction with their backs to the camera. Australian and British flags are hanging from the building, branches of trees are on either side of photograph.

Written in blue ink on reverse: 'Foundation Stone Laying/Ceremony/1932/Derby Road Methodist/Church'. Crowd gathered in front of construction, backs to camera, men standing in front of church, Australian and British flags behind them.

Historical information

Album of photographs brown plastic with 'gold' border design and non archival plastic inserts. Album to be replaced. Label on album 'Pictorial record 1924-1979'. Removed from original album and placed in archival album April 2005.

Records split in 2024 and assigned individual numbers.

Derby Road Corner - Note from Album 'Old Church was Erected 1917, Present Church 1932. The vacant block beyond the old building was later sold to assist with finance for the hall erected in 1962'.
