Part of the "From the Collection" series prepared and distributed to a subscribers' list during 2022 as a follow on to the "Virtual Visit" series initiated during the COVID lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 The collection focus of this item are the Prisoner of War dioramas depicting conditions in the construction camps along the Burma Thai railway

Historical information

These dioramas are the focal point the Prisoner of War Gallery. They were originally designed and installed by a collaborative group of artists and craftsmen, all themselves former Prisoners of War in 1995. Their contribution is respectfully remembered in the Archives and the published 40th Anniversary History of the Museum. All items presented within the dioramas are based on POW recorded drawings and diaries of experiences in the Thai-Burma Railway POW camps.
