Additional information from the donor. Photographs taken in Subiaco School Hall circa 1958 playing rock'n'roll music at the weekly Thursday night teenage dances. Played Bill Haley, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Buddy Holly from sheet music (sax and piano) bought at Musgroves. This band a pre-cursor to the Zodiacs. Zodiacs went to England to perform in 1960s. Barry Stoddart was born in 1940. He attended Subiaco School 1950-52. He lived in Loretto St, Subiaco and later Parker Street 1950-c1959. Rock'n'roll dances were held in Barker Road. Barry learned to jive after Bill Haley and the Comets in 'Rock Around the Clock'. He learned at Wrightson's and Alan Butcher's Studios. Tom Menzel invited Barry to play the tea chest 'base' for the band which jammed at Daisy Florist (before the Zodiacs) in the 1950s. Tom Menzel (school friend) and Johnny Hopgood and others had Vespa Scooters. Canterbury Court circa 1960 held Saturday afternoon hop, duck tail hair style dancing.
