Historical information

S.S. "NEVASA" British India Steam Navigation Co. The "Nevasa" was a passenger liner built for the British India Steam Navigation Co. in 1913. At the start of the First World War she was converted for use as a troopship, and in 1915, equipped as a Hospital Ship. She served in that role until March 1918, when she reverted to troopship duties, repatriating allied troops after the war. In 1919 she resumed her commercial service to India, but in 1925 was taken over again for rebuilding as a permanent troopship. She served throughout WW2 and was finally sold for scrap in 1948.
