MEDALS: COLLECTION OF WORLD WAR II MEDALS BELONGING TO MRS GRACE IRVINE
1939 - 1945Medals: Military medals belonged to Mrs Grace Irvine (World War II).
A) Star shaped brass medal, the '1939-1945 Star' awarded after 6 months of operational service during period 1939-1945. Ribbon has dark blue, red and light blue in 3 equivalent vertical stripes.
B) Brass star shaped medal bears impressed "The Pacific Star". Ribbon: dark green with red edges and central yellow stripe and two narrow stripes, one dark blue and the other light blue. Medal awarded for entry into operational service in the Pacific Theatre.
C) 'War Medal 1939-45'. A round silver coated medal with embossed head of King George on one side, other side picture of a lion with a slain dragon 1939-1945. Ribbon: a narrow central red stripe with a narrow white stripe on either side. A broad red stripe at either edge and two intervening stripes in blue. Awarded for fulltime duty personnel of armed forces for a total of not less than 20 days' operational services.
D) 'Australian Service Medal 1939-45'. Same shaped medal as c). Ribbon: A khaki ribbon edged dark blue and light blue respectively with two intervening red stripes. Awarded for fulltime duty of not less than 18 months or part time duty of not less than 3 years. a, b, c and d are joined together with metal rod with large hinged pin.
