Contextual Information

Fremantle based WA artist Paul Uhlmann was Artist in Residence at the Fremantle Arts Centre for six months in 2009. The resulting exhibition at FAC; to hear the language of birds, was partly a study of movement and meditation upon fresco technique and the imagery of Giotto’s St Francis’ Sermon to the Birds. Uhlmann’s diptych above 2009 is a quiet yet dazzling representation of an azure space, flecked with a sequence of moments of birds in flight, set across two paintings.
