‘Rifle Shooting by AL Flavel’
Alfred Lawrence Flavel born c1898 in Brookhampton WA (southeast of Donnybrook) and served in WW1 from 1916 to 1919. He operated the Sovereign Tea Rooms in Toodyay from 1925 to 1928 where he joined the Toodyay Rifle Club. After selling his business he bought a farm near Burakin and joined the Koorda Rifle Club in 1933. By 1950 he had become a member of the newly formed Cadoux Rifle Club. He was a proficient target shooter competing in many competitions including the WA and Victorian Kings/Queens prize meetings. In 1953 he competed in the Victorian Kings Prize Meeting together with RF White and FA Paul of the Round Hill Club. Some of the footage in the film is of this prize meeting.
