Sepia photo of 5 people standing on a wooden verandah that is part of a small building. In biro or pen above the photo is written 'First Post Office and Staff Subiaco 1897'. There is a tree on the left hand side of the photo. Three men and two boys are standing between 2 wooden posts of the verandah. Four windows are part of the wall of the building which appears to be built of horizontal corrugated iron. There are 2 other copied photos with the main one, possibly scanned.

The staff of the first post office in Subiaco were : I. Humphries, messenger; J Kovac, letter carrier; Sydney Beckwith, letter carrier; T.M. McGladley, operator and C. A. G. Payne; post master.
