POSTCARD: JOAN BIDDLE AND HER FATHER JOHN MALDON

Overview

Black and white photo of a man and a woman walking in Forrest Place near the Commonwealth Bank. The woman is Joan Biddle and the man is her father John Maldon. He is dressed in a suit with jacket buttoned, tie and handkerchief in breast pocket. He is wearing a light coloured hat with a darker wide band. The woman is dressed in a knitted frock with a belt, and a dark long sleeved coat. She is wearing an up-turned brim hat, a necklace, and is carrying a bag under her left arm. She has lace-up shoes on. The Commonwealth Bank building is on the left of the photo and there are people in the background.
Reverse The reverse has staining on the right hand side and says 'POST CARD' and is divided by a vertical line with 'CORRESPONDENCE' on one side and 'ADDRESS ONLY' on the other. There is a rectangle on the upper right hand side of the card with 'KODAK' on all four sides with a cross in each corner. It is stamped with '4 73'. Written in pencil is 'Oct 1946.' and 'Joan and her father taken in Forrest Place near the Commonwealth Bank'.

In the 40s, 50s and 60s street photographers worked in the Forrest Place area and by the Commonwealth Bank in Murray Street.

Mrs Biddle has lived in 160 Heytesbury Rd all her life. Her father bought the house in 1957.
