WIG, FULL BOTTOMED, WALLACE

Overview

Pale horsehair full-bottomed judge's wig extending past the neck and sides and sitting over the shoulders when worn.
Top of crown is frizzy with layers of horizontal curls going down both sides from above the ears.
Horsehair is sewn to brown fabric netting inside.

Historical information

Possibly associated with Alkin Robert Alexander (Bob) Wallace AO, Supreme Court Judge 1972-91 and President of the Law Society of Western Australia 1968-70 but this has yet to be confirmed.
Bob Wallace was born in Perth WA 1 June 1924 and died in East Perth WA 7 October 2011.
The wig possibly dates from the early 1900s at around the time the Ravenscroft wig making business merged with the Ede & Son robe making business and moved to Star Yard. (In 1921 the name of the company was changed to Ede & Ravenscroft).
If Bob Wallace was the person using the wig, then it appears he may not have been the original owner.
