Stoneville Hall

1929 - 1983
Historical information

The Stoneville Hall was officially opened in 1929 by Mr. R. S, Sampson MLA. During the Hall's five decades of operation, it served as the home of the Stoneville Progress Association and Fire Brigade, CWA and the local school.

In 1983 the old Shire of Mundaring Council Chambers Building was bought to the Bentley Park (now Norris Park) forming the "new" Stoneville Hall.

This replaced the original, previous 1929 Hall (located on the corner of Riley Road and Sadlier Court) after the Stoneville Progress Association and Shire of Mundaring swapped ownership of the Hall for the old Chambers.

The Stoneville Hall was then earmarked for demolition following this swap, however Reinahard Herber purchased the Hall and was granted a six week reprieve for him to submit building plans to the Shire to convert the hall into a residence. A major deciding factor for the reprieve from the Shire, was a petition by Mr Herber signed by 70 locals to stop its demolition.

Today the Stoneville Hall is still standing as a private residence and as for the 1983 Hall, it was demolished in December 2021 for the new Stoneville VBFB Fire Station.
