Overview

Colour photograph of a large, white Humes pipe with a rectangular opening cut into the side and three men standing inside holding a certificate. The man in the centre is Richard Court, Premier of Western Australia.

The pipe is stood vertically in an open, cleared area of land at the Welshpool site. It has the 'Humes' logo in black lettering and the red 'CSR / BUILDING IN QUALITY' stamp on the front beneath the cut made into the side where the three men are positioned inside. The man on the left has his right hand resting on his knee. The framed certificate is titled 'JOB SAFE AWARD', and is being held upright by the Premier and the man on the right.

Historical information

These photographs collected for 'Subiaco Industry' exhibition at the Museum 1998. Photographs collected from Humes, Subiaco, now at Welshpool and owned by CSR. Humes one of many industries which moved, or closed prior to Subi Centro development. See P99.52a,b
