Historical information

Planning for a Bunbury High School (BHS) began in 1917. The school was to be built on top of a sand dunes known as Boulter's Heights. The site chosen by the Minister for Education, Sir James Mitchell.

Surveying was completed in 1920. The contract to construct Bunbury High School was let on the 9th January, 1922. The contract for the school went to Totterdell & Bros. of Perth.

By the 1st October, 1922, a two-storey building comprising of 8 classrooms, 2 science laboratories and a gymnasium was completed at a cost of £15,189.00

In 1923, Bunbury High School opened with 162 students and 11 staff.

The school's status was upgraded in 1959 and it became Bunbury Senior High School (BSHS).
