“NRA of WA State Rifle Team 1957”
AW Cant joined the Geraldton Rifle Club after WW1 and became an accomplished target shooter. He won 10 shillings for being the leading scorer of the Geraldton team in competition with Northampton for the Askew Trophy in 1930. He travelled to Perth in 1931 to compete in the King’s Prize Meeting. He won the Chapman Trophy in 1934. In 1936 he won the club championship.
By 1949 he had moved to Perth where he joined the Subiaco Rifle Club. He was a consistent winner of club matches and in 1957 he was appointed to the State Team as a coach. He was Coach and Manager of the 1958 team.
He was born in 1905 in Greenough and passed away in 1988.
