BSHS Girls Hockey 1967
1967A studio portrait and a page of team lists of the 1967 Bunbury Senior High School's girls hockey teams.
Back: Prue Jackson, Sue Swensen, Vicki Carthew, Lyn Welsh, Sue Bennett (Captain)
Mid: Lorna Johansen, Nicki Rogers, Pauline Marshall nee Darby (Coach), Robyn Trainer, Fran Osborne
Front: Lee Campbell, Jan Roberts
Sue Bennett (Capt.): Sue has become quite a personality in the team. Not only has she been an inspiration through her capable manner of play but also with her enthusiastic interest and assistance in coaching. Very much appreciated.
Sue Swenson (Goalie): This year has reached amazing levels of development. Calm, capable and extremely reliable, Sue has been a “lifesaver” in every sense. A truly valuable player.
Vicky Rodgers (Left F.B.): First year in the High School team. Seems to be rather detached from the game, but still manages to defend well. Needs more consistency in making long passes and clearing away from the goal.
Lyn Welsh (Right F.B.): Another improved player. Has developed a much more aggressive style of play with more penetrating clearances to forwards.
Fran Osborne (Right H.B.): A dashing half-back, also useful as a goal-scoring forward. Tenacious and determined in manner. Still potentially a “star”. Sometimes careless with sticks.
Jan Roberts (Centre H.B.): A welcome return to the team. Steady and a real driving force. Excellent stickwork.
Vicki Carthew (Left H.B.): Began the season as a wing, where her sharp hard shots for goals were most needed. Recently returned to her “favourite” position and has quickly re-established herself as a capable half-back.
Lorna Johansen (L.W.): Lorna has spent a profitable season in learning to play as a wing. Performs well most times and is particularly good on short corners where her “trick shots” have kept her opponents guessing.
Lee Campbell (L.I.): Another very successful year, highlighted by her selection, along with Sue Bennett, in the Association Country Week side. Both these players benefited from this experience, particularly Lee, who has learnt to become a part of a moving forward line. Highest goal scorer in the team.
Robyn Trainer (C.F.): Probably the most improved player in the team. Now plays her position extremely well especially in closing out the opposing goalie. Passes well to other forwards. Good attacker.
Judy Denton (R.I.): Left school in second team but continued to
play in the team. Plays a much better forward now. Has scored some
good goals through clever forward tactics.

The team made many changes throughout the year and settled into quite a well-balanced team. General all-round personal improvement created a fuller team effort in both attack and defence. Top team in the Association “A” Grade for yet another year. Lee Campbell (Fourth year). “Jack”. Also known as “Wishbone” and is the good-luck charm of the No. 1 hockey team, of which she was nominated most outstanding player for the year. Lee represented the school in hockey at Country Week. She also went to Perth with the combined Association team. Lee lists swimming and hockey as her main interests and she hopes to become a farmer when she leaves school.
